Burn Ban Lifted effective 10/25/21
Yreka Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jerry Lemos announced that climatic conditions have sufficiently changed to allow burning within the City effective October 25, 2021. Chief Lemos wants to remind citizens that burning will be allowed only during daylight hours in small piles (3’x3’x3’) and that reasonable and ordinary care must be exercised. Before burning, call the Siskiyou County Air Pollution Control at (530) 842-8123 for burn days and burning requirements.
Burn Permits previously obtained from City Hall are still valid. Burn Permits are free and can be obtained from Yreka City Hall – 701 Fourth Street – Mondays through Fridays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm during the burn season. All persons obtaining a Burn Permit and burning must follow the conditions listed on the permit.
