Paul McCoy

Biography

My name is Paul McCoy and I have lived in Yreka since August of 1986. I am a retired school administrator and now own a small business in Yreka. I am a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master's Degree in Education from Point Loma Nazarene College. I love Yreka and am proud to live here. I raised my only child here in Yreka and my wife and I live in the same home we purchased 25 years ago.

I value the lifestyle I have in Yreka and that is why I stay here. I have previously served on the Yreka Historic Commission and on the Yreka Planning Commission. I am a past member of Yreka Rotary Club, El Centro Optimist Club, and American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp. 

Council Work

I know that there are many issues that the council needs to work on such as:

• City Infrastructure
• Creating a More Vibrant Business Climate and Job Market
• New Fire Hall
• Parks and Recreation (Including a New Swimming Pool Complex)
• Stimulating Tourism

I come to this position with my eyes wide open knowing that we are at a crossroads in Yreka and we need to be creative and strive to remain successful. I will work with the council and do my best to do the work of the people of Yreka. My pledge is to do what the people of Yreka feel is valuable and needs to be done and not what I as an individual want done.
