Chief Gamache has been with the Yreka Police Department for 26 years, having been sworn in as the youngest full-time police officer at the age of 19. He has served as a:
- Narcotics agent
- Operations Lieutenant
- Patrol Officer
He was appointed as the Chief of Police in 2018.
Over his career, he has served in every position except Animal Control and Dispatch. Chief Gamache has deep ties to the community, having been born and raised in Yreka and Scott Valley.
Chief Gamache stated that he was first introduced to the idea of being a police officer by his
older brother Chris Gamache, who recently retired from the Yreka Police Department after 27 years of service, and Deputy Gary Bartolotti of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department in 1991.
