Public Relations

The City of Yreka:

  • Recognizes the value of citizen involvement and the wealth of good information and resources possessed by the citizens of Yreka. The importance of citizen concerns and their increased understanding of issues help the City make better decisions.
  • Values the importance of the news media. We act to foster a cooperative working relationship and provide timely, accurate information concerning the City's decisions, events and activities.
  • Believes in open, two-way communication. We strive to share information throughout the community and the City organization, telling its story proactively. The Yreka City Newsletter, for example, is published monthly and included in the utility billings. The newsletter provides information about the City's projects and missions. We encourage you to submit information, questions or suggestions about what you would like to know.
  • Welcomes community involvement from citizen volunteer groups who provide enhanced services to our community. Such groups include: the Red Scarf Society promoting the theater arts; Liberty Arts promoting the visual arts; and recreational groups like the Greenhorn Park Development Initiative, the Yreka Creek Greenway Committee, the Yreka Splash, and the Siskiyou Arboretum and Garden Club. Citizen groups such as these bring vitality and life to the community adding greatly to the value of existing municipal services.
