Yard Waste Burning

Burn Permits Required

Yreka City Fire Department Chief Jerry Lemos has lifted the suspension of burn permits in the City of Yreka. A no-cost burn permit is required for all outdoor residential burning. These permits may be obtained from City Hall. With a valid burn permit, yard waste may be burned in small piles not to exceed dimensions of 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet. The burning of household garbage, including paper products, is prohibited by State law. As of 2004 burn barrels are also banned.

Do not burn unless it is a permissible burn day which is determined by the Siskiyou County Air Pollution Control. Burn day information can be obtained either by calling 530-842-8123 or visiting https://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/airpollution/page/burn-day-information
