The existing sewer collection system in Main Street was developed in stages from the 1940s to the late 1990s. It is being replaced and improved prior to the Caltrans’ "Yreka Rehab Project".
The current work is replacing all sewer laterals, manholes, and extending them to new main lines. This will greatly simplify the collection system and maintenance issues.
Approximately 4,250 feet of the main line will be rehabilitated with a cured-in-place pipe lining. Roughly 2,000' will replaced by pipe bursting to increase hydraulic capacity. Approximately 1,000' will be replaced via open-cut trench method to realign the main in the center turn lane.
